FREQUENTLY ASKED DANCE LESSON QUESTIONS:  Let us answer all of your questions about dance lessons, dance partners, how to register, group dance lesson, private dance instruction, what to wear, dance levels, where to begin and more.

Do I need a dance partner?  No. You do not need a partner to register, but we encourage early registration so that we can plan properly and keep even numbers of men and women in each class.

I know how to dance but not this style. Where do I start?  Even if you are a dancer from a different dance style, we suggest starting with Salsa Level 1 which helps you build a solid foundation.

How do I register?  There are three ways to register:
1) Register on our Class Schedule page by clicking the class name – pay via paypal
2) Register at our classes or events with cash, check, MasterCard or Visa.
3) Register over the phone with MasterCard or Visa by calling 770-896-2062

Why are some series longer than others? Series are scheduled based on how many weeks are in the month and are structured progressively. The number of weeks does not matter because you are learning progressively with your specific class. Your instructor is available for advice on your progression.

Why can’t I just drop into a series class?  Our teaching style is progressive “step-by-step” learning. Students become better leaders and followers when they gain a solid foundation. This is achieved through progressive series and private instruction. We find that “drop-in” students are missing important information and basic technique that is required to be a good dancer. After you have completed all of your fundamental levels (1-3) there are options to drop into Intermediate classes.

What happens if I miss a class?  All series are pre-paid for specific dates/times. If you do not show up – you loose the class. There are no make up days for missed classes, however, we always review material at the beginning of each class.

What should I wear to class?  Dancing is exercise – be prepared to sweat by wearing comfortable clothing. Dancers layer their clothes to stay comfortable. Wear smooth bottomed shoes to easily turn and pivot. Ladies that decide to continue dancing beyond level 1 will need dance shoes.  Talk to your instructor and we will arrange to have some shoes available for you to try on.  (dance shoes fit differently then street shoes)

How many dance levels are there? Levels 1 through 4 are fundamentals. After you will continue to intermediate, advanced & performance level. We teach from absolute beginner to professional dancer.

Are private lessons or group lessons better?  Private lessons are able to accelerate your learning process because it’s you (or you and a partner) with an instructor dedicated to you.  100% of the focus is on you, whereas in a group setting the instructors attention must be divided among all the students registered.  Instructors can pin point your individual trouble areas immediately in private lessons. In addition, you are able to go at your own pace.  Both group dance lessons & private dance lessons are excellent ways to learn how to dance.  The choice is different for everyone based on dance goals, budget, and if your comfortable dancing in large groups or if you prefer prefer to work one-on-one.  It’s a personal choice.  Ideally, a balanced dance plan of both group & private lessons would be the ultimate choice for learning the quickest.  This will accelerate learning further because you get specific instruction & technique in private lessons, then, have the ability to practice lead & follow with several different partners in the group setting.
